The Theatre Room

Wood cut, 1130x120 cm, 2009

The 11 metre long wood cut was made for the Blunk Gallery in Trondheim, Norway. It is a play with shadows cast by the audience and the distance inherent in the five larger-than-life figures spread out across the small room. A key notion is the fold, as the bending of the figure's backs and arms, as well as the turned away position from the audience, invokes a sense of secrecy and detachment.
